Jeff Heasman has a postgraduate certificate in English language teaching to adults plus a bachelor and master of laws degree. He has many years' experience working within the insurance and legal professions in litigation and liability loss adjusting, having handled litigation up to the Court of Appeal in London and dealt with insurance claims arising from many worldwide jurisdictions. Jeff has lectured in legal, academic and business English as well as the language of international negotiation at many UK and international universities. He's delivered training in the law of torts and insurance law and practice to some of the world's largest and most prestigious organisations.

Overview:

This interactive seminar focuses on archaic terminology frequently used in the insurance industry and offers credible plain English alternatives that participants will discover through some fun word games and quizzes. The end result will be the start of a glossary of plain language ,vocabulary that insurance professionals can use to make their writing clearer and more transparent.

Learning objectives:

At the end of the event, the delegate will be able to identify;

• frequently used archaic terminology;

• credible plain language alternatives to archaic terminology;

• how to develop a glossary of plain language vocabulary
