A two hour briefing presented by Branko Bjelobaba FCII, FCA Compliance Consultant and CII Accredited Advanced General Insurance Trainer.

Branko has a first-class reputation for his expert knowledge on compliance and regulatory matters and their impact on the UK financial services and general insurance industries. Combining comprehensive knowledge with an engaging and unique presentation style, Branko manages to deliver presentation sessions that inform, enlighten and even entertain (all at the same time!!). Many events provided by Branko have been standing room only which continues to perplex him based on the subject matter and he has spoken at virtually all CII local institutes and is taken aback by the feedback he gets from those attending events.

Overview:

The briefing will focus on the General Insurance and Financial Services sector with discussion around what is an appropriate legal basis for different processing needs, what marketing can be done (incl a template that gives clear guidance on marketing by post, telephone, email and text for individuals and businesses), when consent should be sought and the use of data for "insurance purposes" In addition a draft Privacy Notice (for insurance broking) will be part of the pack (and this can be tweaked to suit)

Learning objectives:

By attending this event delegates will gain an insight into:

• GDPR proposals (wider applicability than current Data Protection Act 1998, enhanced obligations, increased individual rights and a massive 4% global turnover maximum penalty for breaches)
• Increased cost and complexity to ensure compliance
• The need for establishing a clear legal basis for processing data and where consent may/may not be needed
• What market activities will be legal after 25 May 2018

The briefing will focus on the General Insurance and Financial Services sector with discussion around marketing consents, use of data for underwriting purposes and to tackle fraud and to deal with insureds who have had a track record and may ask for erasure!
