Speaker: Aaron Yates, Berea

This session is a crash course on cyber risk in the wider insurance industry. It will cover the following areas;

Cyber Risk: What exactly is it and what are the consequences?
Cyber Security: Fundamental principles, legislation and standards
Cyber Insurance: Distribution issues and PI exposure, placement issues and E&O exposure, and considerations around the Insurance Act.

Learning objectives
By the end of this session, delegates will be able to identify;

  • An overview of cyber risks/security.
  • The exposures faced by businesses of all size and the steps they should take to protect themselves.
  • The state of the UK cyber insurance market, and the resultant opportunities and threats.

Speaker Biography
Aaron Yates, CEO, Berea
Berea work closely with the Insurance Industry and assisted HCC International (now Tokio Marine HCC) with writing their first "Cyber Liability” policy in 2012. Berea has subsequently delivered training to hundreds of account executives across the UK, giving them the confidence, skill set and toolkit to advice and engage their clients on cyber risk. Most recently Aaron was the expert witness at a CII mock trial of an Insurance Broker for failure to advise correctly on cyber in line with the impending Insurance Act.
