In this one day workshop involving a series of case studies, we update delegates on changes in case law and legislation that may impact professionals' liability exposures as well as comparing and contrasting the exposure of different types of professional. We also review recent professional indemnity policy coverage, market developments and policy disputes. Delegates will develop action plans to ensure professionals are appropriately protected.
Who should attend? Those with in-depth, hands-on experience of professional indemnity insurance who wish to develop and update their understanding of recent changes in the law and policy coverage or learn about other professionals. This is an advanced course so detailed knowledge of the subject is a requirement to attend. Attendees should be prepared to work on case studies, in groups, to raise and address issues.

- Recent UK case law and changes in statute that may impact professionals
- International issues that may impact UK based professionals with international exposures
- The different professionals
- How professional indemnity policies dovetail with other policies
- Professional indemnity programme design
- Professional indemnity wordings recent developments
- Professional indemnity recent policy disputes
- Dealing with international exposures
- Risk management
- Complex issues in professional indemnity claims.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- Brief professional clients on legal and other developments which impact their liability exposure
- Design and place cost effective professional indemnity programmes for UK-only clients and those with international exposures
- Assess professional indemnity policy coverage to determine whether it is providing appropriate protection and contains all available policy enhancements for that type of professional
- Analyse and critique the professional indemnity programmes and policy coverage of prospective clients
- Argue and negotiate effectively on behalf of the insured in the event of a professional indemnity claim dispute.

Tutor Biography
Peter Turrell BSc (Honours), PG Dip, MBA, FCII is an experienced insurance professional and trainer with a high level of underwriting, account management, customer relationship and people development skills, having worked in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Bristol markets. Peter has 20+ years experience in training and development in insurance and founded MAP Training Ltd, a specialist company with a focus on technical insurance at experienced and advanced level.
Terms and Conditions
This course requires a minimum of 10 attendees to go ahead. Places are limited and will be served on a first come, first served basis. Registrations made followed by non-attendance will be subject to a charge of £30 to cover costs. If you can no longer attend the course, please give 48 hours notice otherwise the charge of £30 will apply. Please advise if you have any special access or dietary requirements when you book.
