To support the Dive In Festival helping insurance to get fit for the future, highlighting the business case for divers and inclusive workplaces and providing practical ideas and inspiration to support positive change.

The session is required to offer members a basic understanding regarding equality, diversity and inclusion, the business case and unconscious bias.

Learning objectives:
By the end of the session, delegates will be able to identify:
• compliance, legislation and good practice
• business case for diversity and inclusion – moral and commercial impact
• diversity issues difference, privilege, bias and social mobility
• how to advocate change
• how to build strategies

Speakers biography:
Sharon has over 20 years’ experience in Human Resources, specialising in diversity and inclusion. Starting her career in Financial Services before moving across to HR. Sharon is considered to be a thought leader in this area, consulting on many white papers for the Government in areas of disability, gender and LGBT+. In 2017 Sharon will be releasing a three-year study on the “ageing workforce” the first in depth study in the UK.

During her career Sharon has supported many organisations on their way to success and recognised through the following frameworks: BITC Race and Gender, Top Employers, Time Top 50 Employers for Women, Stonewall, Disability Standards, Equality Standard for Local Government and CPA.

Sharon is also a NED for Ditch the Label Anti-Bullying Charity and Inclusive Employers. Sharon strongly believes in giving back, co-founding Northern Hive connecting businesses, Community and Education across the North.
