MLS Lecture: Suspicious claims - spotting them and managing them

This session will identify and root out the dishonest claimant and this has become even more of a priority since changes in the costs rules after April 2013.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, delegates will be able to identify;
• Qualified One Way Cost Shifting ( QOCS )
• 'Fundamental Dishonesty' as a legal concept in the claims arena
• Strategies for pre-selecting suspicious claims as ones to challenge more rigorously
• Practical tools to build the evidential matrix and successfully challenge the suspicious claim.

Speaker’s Biography:
Alan is a specialist in Mills & Reeve's Insurance disputes team and has handled employer's liability/public liability and motor claims for over 30 years. Currently he heads up the Casulalty Claims operation and is vastly experienced both as a litigator speaker and qualified mediator.
