Promoting an Inclusive Work Force: The advantages of employing staff with disabilities and additional needs

This session is designed to support employers in developing their knowledge around challenges and advantages of employing adults with and additional needs to work in insurance roles. We will look at a number of case studies to discover the positive impact that employees with additional needs have on a business and the mechanisms used to support these employees to reach their potential.

Speaker Biography
Daniel Wood is Assistant CEO of The New Bridge Multi-Academy Trust in Oldham and Tameside. The trust is made up of 5 special schools, a specialist employability college and a social care provision. Daniel has led on the trusts employability strategy for the past 15 years and has set up a number of internship programmes with major employers including Manchester Metropolitan University, The Royal Oldham Hospital and David Lloyd Leisure. Daniel works with over 40 employers across Greater Manchester to support them in offering placements and recruiting young adults with additional needs to their work-force. This has led to the successful employment of over 50 young adults with additional needs in recent years in a variety of sectors, including retail, childcare, hospitality and education. Daniel is SEND Careers lead for The Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
