Random Act of Kindness
In our crazy, scheduled worlds, we rarely take the time to slow down and reflect on how fortunate we are…
well Random Act of Kindness (RAOK) Day provides just that opportunity!
This year the Miindful Wellbeing Support Network will be embracing the annual Random Act of Kindness Day on Thursday 17th February and you can get involved!
If you haven’t taken part in a RAOK day before it doesn’t take a lot of time or money; you don’t need to spend a penny!
Just a simple act of kindness can make a tremendous impact on a person’s life.
So... what is RAOK Day all about?
This is an event that encourages the philosophy of “paying it forward”. The intent of this day is to perform and celebrate kind acts not only for others but for yourself and to reinforce the vision of building a better community. It doesn’t have to take any or a lot of time or money, you could also do just one tiny thing or multiple of acts over a period of time. It all makes a difference!
... why don’t you take part?
You can even get your family, friends and colleagues to join in.
There are so many things you can do and here are just a few examples:
Buy someone a coffee – if you’re back in the office you could even just make one!
Pay someone’s parking fees. Drop flowers on doorsteps. Send a postcard to someone saying how much you appreciate them for how they have helped you.
Contribute to a foodbank or homeless charity
Forgive someone or give up a grudge – they do not even need to know.
Be generous – donate or volunteer to a charity or a Just Giving Page.
Be kind to yourself - yes, every act of kindness you do for others is also an act of kindness to yourself. Giving is receiving.
Give things away – anything useful in your house that you don’t use anymore?
Phone someone who you haven’t spoken to for a long time, consider the lonely people
See how many people you can smile at today and see what reaction you get!
Do something creative - whatever your skill – it must be something you like doing!
Do something mindful - reflect on the good things you have!
So… what will you do for RAOK Day?
Please let us know what you will do or even better let LinkedIn know!
The more we share this, the more people it reaches! #MakeKindnesstheNorm #RandomActsofKindnessDay #MIIrak #RAKDay
If you have done something previously we would also love to hear what – how did it make you feel? Did it inspire you to do it again?
We look forward to celebrating this uplifting day with you 😊
