We are delighted to confirm our next CPD event - An Introduction to The Insurance Fraud Bureau The one hour talk will cover Counter Fraud and the use of Data The collective fight Application Fraud Claims Fraud The changing legal and regulatory picture and by the end of the session attendees will have an understanding of: The current Insurance fraud landscape Industry data as a counter fraud tool Current fraud trends in General Insurance The future counter fraud road map The Speaker: Stuart Gee - Head Of Investigations - Insurance Fraud Bureau Stuart started as Head of Investigations at IFB in December 2013 with responsibility for the investigations team, which is at the heart of the IFB managing investigations and liaising with law enforcement agencies to bring fraudsters to justice. At present, the investigations team is currently managing over 135 fraud investigations across the UK with a total value of over £120m. Date: 24 February 2016. Fraud, Fundamental fraud and all that. - QOCS: what does it all mean? - Case studies on QOCS and fraud and by the end of the session attendees will have an understanding of: - The meaning and practical effects of the QOCS rules - What might amount to fundamental fraud - When might the QOCS rules be dissapplied and costs recovered against an unsuccessful Claimant - How courts are interpreting these new rules The Speakers: Paul Hughes and Chris Smith of Bond Dickinson LLP. Paul is a Legal Director with Bond Dickinson Newcastle office. He specialises in defending personal injury claims for insurers and self-insured companies, with over 20 years' experience in this changing field of law. Chris is a solicitor with Bond Dickinson who specialises in dealing with fraudulent personal injury claims. He also lectures in law at the University of Sunderland. Date: 27 January 2016.
