'Introduction to Questioning & Information Gathering Techniques for Insurance Professionals'

Jeff Heasman is the Director for Legal, Insurance and Maritime Programmes at The Pyramid Group.

He is a former senior liability adjuster with Crawford & Company and has also acted for claimants in

litigation at some of the UK's leading law firms. With over ten years of industry experience in law and

insurance, he has dealt with litigation up to the Court of Appeal in London and handled claims arising

from various worldwide jurisdictions.

This lunchtime 'mini-masterclass' will provide delegates with an introduction to Questioning & Information Gathering Techniques for Insurance Professionals

Jeff's seminar will cover the following content:

1) Assessment and strategy

2) Types of questions

3) Methods of questioning

4) Understanding questions

5) Responding effectively

The course is appropriate for the full range of insurance professionals including, but not limited to,

underwriters, claims handlers, brokers, loss/liability adjusters and support staff

Course objectives:

  • To raise awareness of the importance of questioning techniques in the insurance industry.
  • To understand the need to properly plan the questioning process and to have a strategy.
  • To be able to identify the different types of questions and methods that can be used and to be aware of their respective advantages and disadvantages.
  • To recognise the importance of understanding a question and responding effectively.
