Ethics and Values in Management

Course Duration: Half day

Who should attend?
This course is designed to help those who have leadership responsibilities and wish to understand how ethics and values impact on leadership and how they can be used to good effect.

What will I learn from the workshop?

By the end of the workshop delegates will be able to

• understand what ethics are and are not
• consider how ethics and values affect all organisations
• assess how ethics can be used to improve an organisation
• avoid the risks of badly applied ethics and values

Workshop Content

• Types of organisational culture and how they influence the structure of teams and management style
• Values and vision and their relevance to leaders
• The effects of different cultures and management styles
• The effect of “blame cultures” contrasted with problem solving approaches
• How internal “politics” arise within organisations, and their effects
• The concept of sub-cultures, and their effective management
• The importance of corporate social responsibility and sustainability
• The role of leaders in enabling organisations to fulfil their social responsibility

Kevin Sutcliffe

Prior to becoming a full-time trainer Kevin was training manager for a large insurer. He has extensive experience of training people in business-critical subjects.

He currently trains for a number of insurance organisations as well as businesses outside of the industry. He provides executive coaching and training up to and including Board level.

His speciality is to provide business skills and knowledge to those seeking to make their insurance businesses better able to face the future and deal with the challenges they will encounter in an increasingly competitive world.
