President's Message

I am honoured to have been elected president of the Northamptonshire Insurance Institute for 2024, and I want to welcome you to the Insurance Institute of Northamptonshire website.

 Our council would also like to take this opportunity to personally thank all council members, past and present, for their significant contributions to running the Insurance Institute of Northamptonshire.

 My focus this year will be encouraging individuals to join our local institute and promote the hard work our council members are doing within Northamptonshire. Our council members work very hard to

provide educational and developmental support and networking opportunities to our members so that they have the appropriate support to enable them to achieve their goals and professional qualifications.

 Given the issues caused by not being able to hold many face-to-face events these past few years, I am mindful that many of our members have not been able to connect with our institute. It’s my mission to try to change that by introducing more face-to-face CPD and some social events in the next 12 months. We are here to support our members, and your input is welcomed, so please contact me directly if there is anything specific you would like your institute to offer.

 My chosen charity this year will be Dementia UK. Dementia is a condition in which a person's memory, thinking, and behaviour decline to the point where they affect their daily life. This disease

doesn't just happen to older people. While age is still the most significant risk factor for dementia, people in their 50s and 40s (and even 30s and 20s) can also develop dementia. This is known as young-onset dementia. Young-onset dementia accounts for an estimated 2 to 8% of all dementia cases.

I’m looking forward to representing our members, and you have my promise that I will work hard to build on the solid foundation set by our previous president and our council members.
