Insurance Bill - Lunchtime Lecture
Event Overview
This seminar will review the Insurance Bill and consider how it will impact on the risk exposure of insurance brokers when it becomes law. Representing the first major legislative change to non-consumer insurance contracts in over 100 years the proposed Act is generally good news for insurance brokers. But it is not without its pitfalls. This session will contrast the position which is anticipated to become law as against the current law.

Speaker Profiles
Laura is a Principal Associate in our insurance team and her focus is on resolving claims against professionals, particularly construction professionals brokers and solicitors. She also specialises in advising insurers on coverage issues relating to professional indemnity policies and commercial combined policies. In addition she has expertise in claims arising out of commercial combined policies, particularly property damage claims.
Laura works with clients to minimise the stress and disruption caused when a claim arises by giving realistic and commercial advice, and works to resolve the dispute effectively with a sensible solution.
James is a Senior Associate in our insurance disputes team, acting for professional indemnity insurers and their insureds (predominantly solicitors, but including financial and property professionals and insurance brokers). He has recently returned from a secondment to one of our insurer clients, where he handled claim and policy coverage matters for insured solicitors.
James works with insurers to assess their exposure to claims swiftly and accurately and to propose strategies that are realistic and cost effective. For professional insureds, claims can be time consuming and stressful and they need a lawyer who will be on hand to provide support and advice that is both legally and commercially astute.
