An overview of Lifetime Allowance and other Allowances in relation to Pensions
During this session Vince will provide an overview of customers behaviours and death benefit freedoms since the introduction of pension freedoms.
He’ll also look at the Lifetime Allowance, protections still available from LTA and the impact of the LTA in relation to Defined Benefit Transfers.
Finally, Vince will look at the annual allowance, the tapered annual allowance and the money purchase annual allowance and consider the impact in relation to pensions.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session delegates will be able to identify:
- an understanding of the impact of pensions freedoms including customer behaviour and the death benefit freedoms
- an understanding of the Lifetime allowance, protections still available from the LTA and the impact of the LTA in relation to DB transfers
- an understanding of the annual allowance, the tapered annual allowance and the money purchase annual allowance and the impact in relation to accumulating pensions wealth
About the speaker
Vince Smith-Hughes is Director of Business Development and Technical at Prudential.
He has worked in the financial services profession for over 33 years, and has previous experience as an IFA as well as holding senior pension roles at Clerical Medical and Winterthur Life.
