Vacant Council Roles

In advance of our AGM on 6th April 2022, we would also like to take the opportunity to advertise some of our vacant council roles, and their key responsibilities, as follows:
Education Secretary
- Agreeing the CPD lecture programme, timetable and dates, as well as the corresponding budget.
- Sourcing suitable topics and speakers.
- Sourcing and confirming suitable venues and audio visual equipment which meet the requirements of the health and safety policy and CII's CPD Accreditation requirements.
- Liaising with the venue and speaker in advance of an event to ensure all prepared (including room layout, presentation, refreshments, payment).
- Advising council on developments to examinations and qualifications.
- Answering and redirecting any ad hoc queries from members or council on potential paths of study as appropriate.
- Liaising with other local institutes on collaborative CPD events (e.g. virtual webinars)
Careers Officer
- To give informed advice on careers on all sectors of insurance and financial services by liaising with schools, colleges and universities.
- Act as the principle point of contact with the CII and its Discover Risk and Discover Fortunes programmes.
- Support the local career and education network with insurance and financial services careers work.
- Support new or prospective industry entrants with career advice, including advisory interviews.
- Organise relevant office visits and other careers functions as required
Regional Representative
- Acting as an ambassador for the Insurance Institute of Norwich.
- Engaging with other Institutes in the Anglia region to discuss common issues and goals.
- Providing feedback to the Local Institute National Forum.
Social Secretary
- Arranging, facilitating and co-ordinating the institute’s social and networking events throughout the year.
- Deciding, with the president and council, the type of function to be held, and the number of attendees.
- Sourcing a venue for the event.
- Liaising with the Treasurer to make payments for any event invoices.
- Liaising with Secretary and website support to promote the event and manage attendance list.
- Overall project management of the event.
Dinner Secretary
- Arranging, facilitating and co-ordinating the institute’s annual dinner which is seen to be the most prestigious event in the local insurance community’s annual calendar.
- Deciding, with the president and council, the type of function to be held, event budget and number of attendees, plus sourcing an appropriate venue
- Booking appropriate accommodation for the president (and partner), guest speakers, the CII president or CII president’s representative and any other VIP or special guests.
- Identifying and, in conjunction with the president, issuing invitations to local civic and business leaders, representatives of other professional bodies and presidents of neighbouring institutes.
- Contacting local employers to encourage attendance at the event, and contacting prospective sponsors for sponsorship opportunities
- Overall project management, including accommodation and travel arrangements, event agenda, speakers and seating plan
- In conjunction with the president, identifying a charity and ensuring that arrangements are made for a suitable collection to be made during the dinner.
- Ensuring that any prize winners and/or students who have completed their examinations are invited, that their prizes/certificates/diplomas are available on the night
