About Sue;
Sue has worked at Aviva for the past 25 years as a Casualty and Property Underwriter focussing on the Industrial sector.
Last year she took up a secondment with HR leading Aviva’s UK Diversity and Inclusion programme.
She is currently working with the Department of Work and Pensions on articulating a robust business case for Employers supporting carers in their workforce. She is also working with the business looking at staff experiences and expectations as they approach retirement age
Aims and Objectives
Insight – Why bother with Diversity and Inclusion?
- Provide a place where people can understand each other’s challenges and work collaboratively to overcome them.
- Uncover the barriers to attraction, retention, and promotion for different groups of people.
- Highlight the unique differences between each other, to educate others to the have instinctive empathy with our customers and clients.
Engagement – How can we promote an inclusive workplace?
- Create an inclusive culture, where people feel able to share their thoughts, ideas, and lived experiences.
- Communicating with our people with authenticity, particularly where there may not already be trust.
- Support career development of members through developing and highlighting role models, and running programmes such as reverse mentoring and coaching.
Innovation - What can You do to promote Inclusive Leadership?
- Develop initiatives to support each other, and help everyone understand and celebrate diversity.
- Find new ways to engage more people locally, nationally, and globally.
- Support development of innovative strategies, policies, and process which affect our people.
- Engage charities, partners, NGOs, or other corporates, to bring innovative thinking to your workplace.
