Darren has more than 31 years’ experience in risk management, 16 of which were in an operational capacity before moving to insurance broking and risk consulting. Having started his career in health and safety management within the facilities and construction industry he developed his career into risk management and worked for a global food manufacturer before moving to insurance broking. For the past 15 years Darren has been providing advice, support and thought leadership to clients and industry professionals on risk management across a wider range of industries, with a particular interest in culture and behaviour. He currently leads the operational risk team within the Client Advisory Services arm of Marsh Ltd Summary: Organisations are living through a transformation in the way their people work. In this context people are developing knowledge and skills that make them agile and resilient to change. Whilst knowledge and skills in areas such as Big Data, are increasingly high profile, personal or ‘soft ’ skills are not mutually exclusive. Communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, collaboration and cultural sensitivity are also must-have skills. |
