President's focus for 2020-2021

When it came time for me to consider what I would like the theme of my Presidency to be I couldn’t quite narrow it down to one thing, instead opting to champion two areas which are both very important to me.

Re focus on charity
Charities all over the UK (and indeed the World) have undoubtedly suffered this year with so many fund-raising events having to be cancelled. The Insurance Charities is no exception to this and whilst the need for their support has increased, their donations have inevitably reduced significantly. Whilst I can’t promise we can make a huge wave of change, with a new committee dedicated to fund raising, I can pledge to start making some ripples which will hopefully continue on for many years.

Celebrating Women in Insurance
Anyone who knows me is aware of my strong family ties to the history of Women’s Equality, and I will be immensely proud to take up the mantle laid down by my Gt. Gt. Grandmother, Alice Hawkins, to champion awareness throughout my Presidency – and my aim is to ‘Celebrate Women in the Insurance Industry’. I have some exciting new ideas and hope to work with some inspirational women in the local area to bring these to you over the coming months.
