Having taken a tour of some of the key issues in the context of claims by lawful visitors (23 September 2015) Chris Gough of Mills and Reeve will be back with us to address the duties owed even to those people who are “trespassers” on our premises.

Chris will help identify:-

  • The standard of care owed to trespassers

  • The subjective state of knowledge of the Occupier in assessing liability

  • How and when a visitor can turn themselves into a “trespasser”

  • Practical examples and a case study to highlight potential liability issues

  • A checklist of “claims defensibility” features every investigation should be looking to address.

  • Differentiating visitor and trespasser claimants

  • Clarifying the duties owed and where they differ

  • A tactical awareness of opportunities to defend trespasser claims

  • Acquiring practical insight into structuring an investigation

The Nottingham Insurance Institute charges for non-attendance at all CPD events.

If you do find that you are unable to attend, we ask that you give us at least 4 working days notice that you are no longer able to attend.

Please note, if you fail to let us know before this deadline, we will need to charge a £30.00 (inc. VAT) non-attendance fee to cover the cost of catering, booking arrangements and denial of your place to other members.

All cancellations must be received by email and you will receive confirmation of your cancellation. You may also nominate a replacement if you are unable to attend.
