When should a claim be made through the Courts? Beware, time is limited!
This seminar will explore the Limitation Act 1980 which provides timescales within which legal action can be taken and why it is important that claims are pursued within the timeframes.
Learning Objectives
By attending this event, delegates will be able to identify:
- What is a limitation period and when does it commence?
- The purpose and the importance of the limitation period.
- Preserving a claim’s limitation.
- What happens should a claim be made outside the limitation period?
A light buffet lunch and refreshments will be available from 12.15 with the seminar starting at 1p.m. for an hour.
Speaker
Mamunul Wahid joined Clarke Willmott in 2014 and works within the firm’s financial services litigation team, specialising in mis-selling claims.
Mamunul has a strong understanding of how financial firms work having recently completed a nine month secondment at a leading wealth management practice. Mamunul always looks for opportunities to prevent, mitigate and resolve claims successfully.
Mamunul is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is currently studying towards a diploma in regulated financial planning
Recent and ongoing cases include:
- Advising an appointed representative in circumstances where the principal is seeking to rely on an indemnity
- Acting for an individual in relation to the unilateral liquidation of his portfolio by a discretionary fund manager
- Acting for a number of steelworkers who were negligently advised to transfer out of their occupational pensions

The Nottingham Insurance Institute charges for non-attendance at all CPD events. If you do find that you are unable to attend, we ask that you give us at least 4 working days’ notice that you are no longer able to attend.
Please note, if you fail to let us know before this deadline, we will need to charge a £30.00 (inc. VAT) non-attendance fee to cover the cost of catering, booking arrangements and denial of your place to other members.
