State Pension
Overview
The state pension is the foundation stone of retirement planning for most individuals. It has also been subject to constant adjustment, proposals and even a complete replacement in April 2016. As such, understanding the state pension is arguably more complex than ever.
Going forwards there are further changes to the state pension age scheduled and even these are subject to further proposals for change! It is hardly surprising that many find the state pension very confusing and not confident when they may receive the state pension or how much this may be.
During this session Paul Squirrell, National Pensions Sales Manager at FundsNetwork, will look to analyse the current and previous state pension systems and will discuss what is legislated and proposed to change. He will also look at how the State Pension is used as part of financial planning, when we should consider topping up or even deferring the state pension.
A light buffet lunch and refreshments will be available from 12.15 with the seminar starting at 1p.m. for an hour.

Terms & Conditions
As your local Institute Council, we put a lot of time and effort into arranging a full and varied calendar of CPD events throughout the year to help you, and other members of the Nottingham Institute, to keep up to date and to fulfil your CPD obligations. We also spend money on venues and providing catering. It is disappointing, therefore, when members fail to attend without notice as it potentially deprives another member the opportunity of attending.
In addition, many of the speakers at our CPD events provide their valuable time and expertise on an entirely voluntary basis. Many travel to come and speak to you, our members. We want to avoid situations where members fail to turn up and our speakers finding themselves speaking to empty seats.
If you book on to any event and you find you are unable to attend, we would ask that you kindly let us know in advance so that we can ensure other members do not miss out.
Special Requirements
If you have any special requirements, be these of a dietary, disability or religious nature, please respond to your booking confirmation email with the details.
CII Accredited
This demonstrates the quality of an event and that it meets CII member CPD scheme requirements.

It is recommended that you keep any evidence of the CPD activity you have completed and upload copies to the recording tool as the CII may ask to see this if your record is selected for review. Details of the scheme can be viewed online at www.cii.co.uk/cpd.
