Storm in a Teacup - Climate Change

The Insurance Institute of Perth and Dundee's forum event in September 2014 focussed on Climate Change and how it affects the insurance industry.

Entitled 'Storm in a Teacup' delegates will hear from industry experts on the subject of climate change, how this will impact property planning and what insurers are doing about it, each presenting for 15-20 minutes.

The speakers will be followed by a Q&A session which will provide some provocative debate on the subject.

Speakers:
Andrew Montford BSc:
Author, Chartered Accountant and behind the Bishop Hill climate sceptic blog. The failures of climate models and their usefulness as tools for policy (and to inform business).

Dr Rob Wilson:
Senior Lecturer in Earth and Environmental Sciences at St Andrews University. Limitations of climate models, Scottish (UK) climate,within the global context.

Graham Esson:
Planning & Research, Perth & Kinross Council. Council land use policies on flooding and flood risk and the policy on climate change in general.

Douglas Barnett:
Head Of Customer Risk Management, AXA. Flood modelling, Flood Re, policy cover/exclusions and price.

The event was chaired by Ian Ferguson, Director of SME, Aviva.
