Sad passing of Peter Wilson FCII

With heavy hearts, the Institute announces the passing of a beloved member of the insurance community, Peter Wilson FCII. Peter suffered a stroke on 1st October and regrettably lost his brief battle on Saturday, 21st October.

Peter was a well-known figure in the industry, dedicating his entire career to General Accident, beginning his underwriting career in Preston only to return to Preston in 1992 after spells in Perth, Shrewsbury and Manchester contributing his expertise as GA's Commercial Manager in Starkie Street before his retirement.

His impact on the industry and the underwriters he mentored and inspired over the years will be deeply felt. Peter was a respected figure among brokers too, with many becoming firm friends.

A longstanding and influential member of the Insurance Institute of Preston & Blackpool, Peter played a pivotal role in his retirement driving the Institute's local council and activities for over 20 years. His absence will be profoundly mourned.

Peter's funeral service will be held at 10am on Thursday, 9th November, at St Teresa's Church, Queensway, Penwortham, Preston, PR1 0DS. Following the service, friends and ex-colleagues are invited to gather at Penwortham Golf Club, PR1 0AX, to share their memories of this remarkable man.

In Peter's memory, Margaret and his family kindly requests that any charitable contributions be made to a cause close to your heart.

Peter's legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
