    • John Potter ACII Chartered Insurance Practitioner, Ex Marine and Transit Underwriter with Aviva, CII trainer

Why you should attend this event.

We work in an area that still makes things and needs to send and receive stock and raw materials and also finished goods. As a result it is important that we should understand the legal responsibilities of those who move these goods around.

This talk will cover:

- How Liability arises at Common Law, under Contract and under Statutory Convention.

- How to make a Contract in English Law

- Who is a Bailee of goods and what is their duty.

- What happens if conditions of contract are not agreed

- Case study of the consequences of not contracting on agreed terms

Who should attend?

This will be of interest to anyone working in the commercial insurance sector whether or not you have transport/logistics customers as many of your customers will be moving goods via this sector. This will include Underwriting, Sales and Brokers and Loss Adjusters and particularly anyone involved in the claims process.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session you will have a better understanding of:

- The respective responsibilities of each party to the contract for the movement of goods.

- The difficulties caused when there is a lack of clarity over the contractual agreements made for the movement of goods.
