We welcome all members & guests to attend a seminar which will be presented by Nicola Carlisle who is a Senior Security Consultant with Arcanum Information Security Ltd where she works across the wide range of cyber security consultancy services that the company provides, but is the Company’s lead on Governance, Risk and Compliance as well as Data Protection. She has worked for clients as diverse as UK Special Forces through, most recently, to a not-for-profit organisation working with Trusts and Charities helping them to navigate the recent changes to data protection legislation (GDPR and the new Data Protection Act).


Nicola comes from a military background. She served in the Intelligence Corps for 25 years, beginning her career as an Arabic Interpreter and spending much of her time in Cyprus and the Middle East, interspersed with teaching and deployments to the Balkans and the Falklands Islands. She also commanded a cutting edge near-real time intelligence delivery unit and the Army’s security training team which delivered bespoke security training to military personnel and Civil Servants at units worldwide.

In this seminar Nicola will offer the following learning objectives:

  • Update on cyber-attacks over the past 18 months and how we see these changing over the next 18 months
  • A law of unintended consequences – new data protection legislation and the how this is changing change how organisations look at risk
  • Provide an understanding of the current threat landscape and how it has changed
  • Increase and reinforce awareness of the importance of cyber security
  • Provide an insight into how changes in legislation may drive the uptake of cyber insurance
