Fire Investigation for Insurers – Separating the facts and fiction and looking at myths and legends.
We welcome all members & guests to attend a seminar which will be presented by James Acott who is a Certified Fire Investigator with the International Association of Fire Investigators (IAAI) and an Associate of Fire Investigations (UK) LLP who trade as FI-UK and FI-Global and provide fire investigation services including identifying the origin, cause and development of any fire. He has investigated several hundred fires for a variety of clients within the insurance, legal, manufacturing and transport industries and Government Departments. He has extensive experience investigating fires in domestic, commercial and industrial properties; lightweight and commercial vehicles; and machinery including agricultural and construction plant.
In this lecture James will share his experience through case studies and videos of fire reconstruction to develop an understanding of how a fire investigation can be used in the claim process.
Learning Objectives
- Understand how a fire investigation feeds into the claim process.
- Understand how facts identified in the investigation can identify anomalies within witness evidence.
- Identify where evidence can be used to support insurers with a recovery of their losses.
- Identify several misconceptions and myths relating to fire development.
