EL, PL and BI Claims: more challenges for businesses and insurers

Webinar
Wednesday, 28 October 2020
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)

Following on from our popular webinars and the feedback which we have received in the survey for claims related topics, we are pleased to welcome Alison Green, a barrister at 2TG Chambers who is presenting this webinar on legal developments in EL, PL and BI claims against insurers.

Overview

In the wake of Covid 19 businesses and insurers should be acutely aware of their exposure to employers and public liability claims, as well as the difficulties surrounding different types of Business Interruption claims. This webinar considers cases affecting EL and PL claims against insurers, and, in particular, the key decision this September in the BI test case brought by the FCA. It also looks at different steps that businesses and insurers may wish to take in seeking to protect themselves against such claims and from being involved in lengthy litigation. This webinar is of general topical interest as so many businesses and their employees have had to adapt and change their working practices this year. It will be of particular value to those who handle these claims, as well as those who broke or underwrite such insurance lines. The talk will highlight some of the current legal issues and the pitfalls that may lie in wait for the unwary.

Learning Objectives

By attending this webinar, delegates will be able to appreciate:

  • The way that courts have approached such claims, particularly in recent times;
  • Issues that arise in proving and defending such claims;
  • Steps insureds and insurers may take to protect themselves in future.
