Insuring Ground Risk
FREE CPD SEMINAR 12 May 2020
Insuring Ground Risk
We welcome all members & guests to attend a lunch time seminar which will be presented by Mr Tony Bracegridle from Geotechnical Consulting Group.
Overview
In recent years there have been major losses in the market in certain areas of engineering and a hardening of the market in response, extending not only to commercial markets, but also to domestic markets. The discussion will be focussed on why geotechnical losses form such a large part of the total. In particular losses in relation to tunnelling, marine works and warehouse foundations are noteworthy in the commercial arena, along with protracted disputes on home insurance in the domestic area will be discussed.
Learning Objectives
By attending this event, delegates will be able to identify:
- geotechnical uncertainty, geohazards and risk;
- how current procurement practice leads to increased exposure;
- what is so special about tunnelling risk and marine risk;
- the warehouse floor problem;
- problems for insurers in the domestic market.
