Lloyd’s of London & Insurance Museum Tour

The Insurance Institute of Southampton invites you to join us for a tour of the Lloyd’s of London & Insurance Museum in London on Wednesday 2nd October.

Return coach transport is included from Southampton Central Train Station to London.

The tour is free for all members of the Insurance Institute of Southampton, any cancellations less than 4 days prior to the event will incur a £10 fee. Non-members can attend at a cost of £10.

Important Information

Dress Code for Lloyd’s of London is smart casual. No jeans, trainers, sneakers, sportswear, shorts or sweatshirts. Any backpacks or luggage can be left within the dedicated Cloakroom. Valuable items may be retrieved and carried by visitors.

Original photo identification is required to access your pass to the Lloyd’s of London tour. Reception can not accept photos or paper copies of identification.

The Insurance Museum tour is a walking tour outside of up to 2 hours, we recommend bringing a raincoat and walking shoes or trainers with you in addition with a change of shoes for the Lloyd’s of London tour.

Rest breaks will be provided around the tours with coffee shops nearby to purchase food and drinks or feel free to bring your own.

Lloyd’s of London Tour

A one-hour visit to the internationally renowned Lloyd’s building to introduce Lloyd’s and how the Lloyd’s market works.

The visit will feature a talk on the history of Lloyds, Lloyd’s market and its operation, the structure of the market, how business is placed, globalization and distribution regulations and Lloyd’s in the world insurance market.

The visit will include a Q&A session and a tour of the artefacts on the 11th floor.

Insurance Museum Tour

The City of London has long been a hub for international trade and insurance, with its history reflected in the street plans and buildings. The Insurance Museum's tour 2 hour walking tour explores the origins of London trade and the parallel development of insurance. It covers Roman life insurance, medieval maritime insurance, Italian bankers, gamblers and visionaries. All this happens in a small area between the Royal Exchange and Lloyd’s of London – EC3, in the place simply known around the world as “The City”.

  • Learn how a museum can engage the public, young people, and children with insurance.
