PFS Hants & Dorset Regional Half Day Dorset Conference, Thursday 10th April 2025, 10am to 1pm.

Your local PFS Hants & Dorset Regional Committee have arranged this half day event, as part of our delivery of locally organised bespoke face to face events covering a variety of topics that we think will be of interest to our local membership. The main topics and speakers are as follows:

Meeting modern retirement needs with Guaranteed Income Drawdown

This talk will be emphasising the benefits of using a Fixed Term (Guaranteed) Investment inside a SIPP, to provide enhanced protection from volatile markets and flexibility for investors. The speaker is Richard Nichol, Business Development Director (Central South) from LV.

SIPP & SSAS Planning Opportunities

This presentation will cover the wealth of business opportunities involved with the use of SIPPs and SSASs with an emphasis on commercial property investment. The speakers will be Matt Storey, Head of Business Development and Josh Legg, Business Development Manager at @SIPP.

Matt joined @sipp in 2022 and is Head of Business Development. Matt is a highly experienced industry professional having worked in Financial Services since 2006. He has specialised in SIPP and SSAS for approaching two decades, and prior to joining @sipp, was a Business Development Manager for a well-known SIPP provider covering many parts of the UK. Matt is an extremely knowledgeable SIPP and SSAS specialist, and highly adept at supporting the financial adviser community by delivering innovative solutions in the self-invested pension space.

Josh Legg is a Business Development Manager at @SIPP, with 13 years of experience in the SIPP and SSAS market. Specialising in commercial property within pensions, he supports financial planners and their professional connections by providing technical expertise and guidance, helping them navigate the often-complex SIPP retirement market. Josh is committed to ensuring advisers have the knowledge and solutions they need to deliver the best self-invested pension strategies for their clients.

An introduction to cash management platforms

Insignis Cash Solutions look at how the adviser can maximise the returns on a client’s cash deposits and minimising the risk. These solutions are available to individuals, couples, charities, pensions and trusts.

The speaker is Nick Lacey, Head of Sales at Insignis Cash Solutions.

Preparing your business (the client’s) for exit

Exiting an owner-managed business requires strategic planning to maximise value and ensure a smooth transition. This guide outlines key exit strategies, including selling to third parties, management buyouts, family succession, and mergers & acquisitions. It highlights critical financial, tax, and legal considerations, such as capital gains tax, business asset disposal relief, and share structuring. Additionally, it covers best practices for improving operational efficiency, leadership development, and reducing owner dependence. A step-by-step exit process, including valuation, due diligence, and deal structuring, is provided to help business owners navigate their transition effectively.

The speaker is Richard Jennings FCA, a Chartered Accountant who advises businesses on exit planning. A widely experienced Commercial CFO and Senior Board member in SMEs of all sizes, both in the UK and internationally. Advises boards and business owners on finance, strategy, operations, and board culture with specific expertise in fund raising, M&A, financial analysis, forecasting and modelling. Specialist in scaling up fast-growth businesses, securing investment, transforming process and preparing for exit.
Qualified Chartered Accountant in 1992, joined the global US consulting firm Towers Perrin progressed to FD and gained an MBA. Continued with senior CFO roles in Tesco (dunnhumby) and various US firms and UK AIM listed companies. Worked with PE & HNW funded companies, as well as family and owner-managed organisations. Awarded Sunday Times Tech 100 finalist 2015.

The venue is the Vitality Stadium, AFC Bournemouth, Kings Park, Bournemouth, BH7 7AF.

Bacon baps, tea/coffee, water will be served on arrival. The meeting will end promptly at 1pm.

The maximum attendance will be 50 delegates and it will be on a first come, first served basis. There is a commitment fee of £10 for the booking, as we anticipate that this event will be oversubscribed.
