However these do not always activate as intended in the event of an intruder entering the building. In this presentation Burgoynes look at reasons why intruder alarms fail to operate correctly. Detailing what information can be obtained from addressable systems and motion detectors and illustrating this with case studies of fires and thefts investigated by Burgoynes demonstrating the reasons for the failure

Alan has undertaken operational management roles for three major global companies. NatWest Insurance Services, RBS Insurance Group and Allianz Insurance and has run underwriting, broking and claims functions. 12 years ago he set up his own training company something that he had always longed to do due to his passion for training and professionalism. He has trained six of the individuals who have achieved the best ACII completion in the whole of the United Kingdom. Many of the people he has trained have won national prizes from a widely diverse range of subjects Alan helps run the Allianz scholarship programme in both the UK and Ireland. He also runs throughout the UK and Ireland the Allianz technical academy programme for their brokers and the Allianz Cii training programme for their staff. As well as training in Allianz Alan has undertaken training for most of the major brokers and Insurers at some point including Marsh, Aon, Gallagher, Zurich, RSA, Aviva and and many others, this is in addition to undertaking work for the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Kate is a ‘Crime Prevention Design Advisor’ (Crime Prevention Officer), working in the Crime Prevention Unit at Staffordshire Police Headquarters. Kate has worked for the force for sixteen years, and was formerly a front line Scenes of Crime Officer, she has the portfolio for cyber, fraud and business crime within the force. Kate will be speaking about fraud and cyber-crime, and explain why we are all at risk to this criminality in today’s society, she will then explain and provide tips on how we can better protect ourselves from such crimes.
