Background
This lecture will look at how fires start in general, how they are investigated and will go on to consider woodburning stoves and thatched properties specifically.

The talk will give you an understanding of:

  • The common causes of fires;
  • The construction of flues and their common defects with regard to fires;
  • Forensic investigation techniques;
  • The safe use of a woodburning stove;
  • The risks associated with thatch.
