Pool Re and Terrorism
The Insurance Institute of Sussex invites you to join fellow members and guests at Clair Hall on Tuesday 11 April, when Steve Coates, Chief Underwriting Officer at Pool Re will be talking to us about the role that Pool Re plays in providing terrorism cover to the commercial insurance market.
Pool Re was established in 1993 as a response to the market failure that was triggered by the bombing of the Baltic Exchange. Today, it underwrites over £2 trillion of exposure in commercial property to terrorism risk across the UK mainland and has paid out over £600 million at no cost to the UK taxpayer.
During this free one-hour CPD seminar, Steve will explain the dynamic nature of the terrorist threat, the products that are available to provide appropriate insurance cover and how these might need to adapt to cover the emerging aspects of the terrorism threat.
He will also address how Pool Re has adapted to recent global events and the changing risk highlighted by these, understanding the nature of the risk and making sure this is reflected in their proposition.
