Croquet Evening

Sussex County Croquet Club
Wednesday, 05 July 2023
5:45 pm – 7:45 pm (UK time)

Our annual Croquet Tournament takes place at the prestigious Sussex County Croquet Ground on Wednesday 5 July. During an evening of light-hearted, competitive croquet, pairs of players will once again challenge for the honour of winning the Insurance Institute of Sussex Centenary Trophy.

Don't worry if you have never played before, as all equipment and full training are available from our hosts, the Sussex County Croquet Club (SCCC).The fun starts at 5.45 for 6.00pm and costs just £15 per person (which is non-refundable unless the event is cancelled).

Booking is open to all members and their guests. To further increase the competitive nature of this event, we are allowing members to register more than one team this year. So why not gather together a group of friends and colleagues and hold your own group competition during the evening. Don't worry if you have an odd number of players, or you wish to come alone, we will find you a partner on the night.

Other Information
Hot and cold drinks can be purchased from the bar throughout the evening. Please note that there will not be any food available.

Please make sure you wear flat-soled shoes or trainers to avoid damaging the lawns. You are also advised to bring a jumper or similar as it can turn quite cold once the sun has gone down!

Croquet is played in most weather conditions, so we would suggest bringing waterproofs if it looks like it may rain on the day!

Whilst open to all members, please note that due to steps leading into the building and between lawns, this event may not be suitable for the infirm or anyone in a wheelchair. Please contact us if you require further information about this.

Getting there
By car - there is ample free parking at the site. If following your Satnav, please do not use the Club's postcode as your destination as you will end up at the (locked) back door! Instead set the address as Kingston Lane or enter the postcode for Shoreham College - BN43 6YW (which is immediately opposite the Club) and ignore the final few directions onto the campus.

By train - the Club is about 15 minutes' walk from Southwick rail station.

By bus - Stagecoach route 700 (between Brighton and Worthing area) stops on the coast road near the bottom of Kingston Lane. This is about 5 minutes' walk from the Club.
