View event detailsFCA GI Consumer Duty and Multi-Occupancy update
Consumer Duty has been live for over six months now, and the FCA has urged firms to get on with it! Sheldon Mills, Executive Director of Consumers and Competition, warned that firms who ignore it or who pose the most harm can expect swift action. With 52 million financial services consumers in the UK relying on our sector to deliver good outcomes, they should be even better protected from harm, particularly in these challenging economic times. The Duty means that consumers should receive communications they can understand, products and services that meet their needs/provide evidenced fair value, and get the customer support they need, when they need it. During this webinar, Branko will also cover - the new rules on multi-occupancy insurances that came into effect from 1 January 2024 following intervention by the government and - the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill which will see the ban of commission sharing, plus what insurers have been doing to implement these rules.

The Companies Act 2006 puts very clear and onerous duties on directors. The presentation explores this Act, and how a D&O (Directors’ & Officers’) policy can respond to this liability. For broking staff advising on D&O, gaining a full understanding of directors’ personal duties under the Companies Act will enable them to more clearly identify why no director can afford to be without D&O cover. For company directors, this webinar will serve as a useful guide to the importance of D&O insurance to your business.

View event detailsAn Introduction to Blockchain and Cryptocurrency and the impact on Insurance
Blockchain, Distributed Ledger Technology, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general keep appearing in the news. Whether it’s about ransomware, the dark web, money laundering or fraud, it tends to have only bad stories written about it. There’s also a lot of hype too as Bitcoin keeps going up in price, “DeFi” is the next big thing and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are the latest craze. The digital artist known as Beeple recently raised $69 Million from the auction of an NFT. The technology is full of buzzwords which makes it difficult to appreciate that it does offer some radical alternatives to how businesses operate and could have a transformative effect – particularly in insurance. The session is intended for those who wish to gain an understanding of blockchain core concepts, use cases and relevance to insurance. It is designed to be business, rather than technical, focused and no prior knowledge of blockchain is required.

View event detailsMock Trial
This event will show how the process works and what to expect if a claim ends up in court proceedings. It will simulate a real-life personal injury claim that went to court recently. It involves an accident in which a person was leading a horse up a country lane and claimed that the driver of a tractor was negligent in failing to stop/turn off his engine, causing the horse to be spooked and bolt and cause her serious injuries. It is a trial on liability for the accident. As in most real-life disputes, the law will be important, but the core of the disagreement will be about the facts. Some witnesses will be more credible than others. Both parties will have their strong points and their weak points. Ultimately, it will be up to the Judge to decide.
