The Insurance Act 2015

We are delighted to welcome Clare Hughes-Williams from DAC Beachcroft who will be talking to us about The Insurance Act 2015.

The Insurance Act 2015 received Royal assent on 12th February 2015 and will come into effect on 12th August 2016. Clare's talk will cover:

  • Business Disclosure
  • Remedies for breach
  • Warranties
  • Fraud
  • Contracting Out

Clare qualified in September1990 and was a Partner at Morgan Cole LLP in Cardiff from 1998 to 2013, she has been a Partner at DAC Beachcroft since 2013. She specialises in defending claims against professionals and advises Insurers on a range of issues. Her particular specialism is in acting for solicitors and their Insurers. Clare is also know for her expertise in regulatory matters and has acted for a number of Top 100 firms in relation to regulatory investigations and prosecutions.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this event, the delegate will be able to identify and apply the following :

  • Understand key points that arise from the to enable brokers to advise insureds on the Act
  • Raise awareness of the professional implications for brokers arising from the Act in particular in relation to disclosure.

We meet from 5.30pm in the 'Hub' on the first floor, where coffee/tea will be provided free of charge. The talk will commence at 6.00pm til about 7.00pm in one of the first floor meeting rooms.
