Webinar: Motor Legal Expenses Insurance

  • Tue 20 Apr 9:30 am – 10:30 am
  • Webinar
    • Bernard Thornton FCII

Motor Legal Expenses (MLE) is a class of insurance frequently misunderstood, overlooked or dismissed altogether. For many claimants however, MLE can be a vital form of cover, and one which is changing significantly with the upcoming implementation of the Civil Liability Act. This important legal instrument is set to make sweeping changes to the way both personal injury and ULR claims are handled and calls for major changes in the way MLE is worded, priced and sold. The wide variety of policies, cover, and marketing options can be confusing for clients and sometimes for insurance professionals. This webinar seeks to demystify MLE and to clarify what needs to be taken into account when considering and recommending cover to clients. The webinar will be of value to those involved in Motor claims, underwriting, broking or anyone wishing to widen their knowledge of a highly topical and fast-moving aspect of general insurance.

Webinar: An overview of commercial package insurance

  • Wed 24 Mar 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • Webinar
    • Alan Chandler

This webinar will provide a practical look into the various sections of a typical commercial package insurance policy, what is covered and what protection a commercial customer actually obtains, so that brokers, underwriters and claims staff alike can be confident when explaining the different sections of cover. The reality is, that many commercial customers do not always appreciate the breadth of their cover, and as such the discussion tends to too often focus on price rather than cover and quality. This webinar will look to put the onus back on the essentials of cover and quality so that customers can make informed decisions. The presentation will be provided by Alan Chandler, one of the most popular speakers within the UK, and Alan in his usual plain English style will outline the main areas of cover, the history of package insurance and how sums insured should be correctly set. The webinar will be suitable for anyone working with commercial package insurance be they brokers, underwriters or claims staff. This is also applicable for all those studying IF3 or IF8.

Personal Injury Claims - What Next?

  • Thu 04 Jun 9:30 am – 10:30 am
  • Webinar
    • Bernard Thornton FCII

We are very pleased to have arranged for Bernard to talk to us via this webinar on Zoom on the subject of Personal Injury. Over the last 30 years, few areas of the insurance market have seen such frequent and significant changes than that of personal injury claims. Various reforms have been introduced in attempts to tackle sensitive issues such as access to justice, fraud, legal fees and their effect on premium levels. Unsurprisingly these have generated strong feelings on all sides of the argument. The Civil Liability Act, now scheduled to take effect in April 2021, will introduce what are likely to be the most sweeping changes yet. This presentation looks at the background to the current market for injury claims and how it will be affected by the CLA. It predicts the likely consequences for insurers, intermediaries, claimants and the insuring public and takes into account other topical and disrupting factors in the Motor market such as Ogden, general claims inflation and now the dramatic onset of Covid-19. The webinar will be of value to those involved in Motor claims, underwriting, broking or anyone wishing to widen their knowledge of a highly topical and sometimes contentious aspect of general insurance
