Terrorism: A Dynamic Risk
Sarah will cover why the Pool Re scheme still exists and how it is changing to meet the modern threat. She will explain how to go about underwriting a risk that can't be approached in a conventional manner and how this differs from other low probability, high severity events. The talk will also cover how Pool Re is responding to the changing nature of the threat. Learning Objectives: . Outline the key aspects of the Pool Re scheme . Consider how the threat of terrorism in UK has changed over time and will continue to do so. . Examine why supported mechanisms continue to be necessary for terrorism around the world. . Consider recent terrorist events in UK and how these illustrate the dynamic nature of the risk. . Understand how terrorism can be underwritten and how Pool Re is evolving . Appreciate why business should buy terrorism and the choices they face.

Due to finish by 19:00 Venue - The Village Hotel, Langdon Road, Swansea SA1 8QY We are delighted that we have re-arranged last month's talk and look forward to welcoming Nigel from RiskStop to talk to us on Rebuild Cost Assessment. There is an increasing interest in RCA’s from both Brokers and Insurance companies with much talk of the ‘average’ clause being removed where the BSI is made equal to the RCA. This provides some interesting competitive differentiation as well as helping to meet TCF requirements etc. Nigel has spent the last 30 years working in or supplying services to the Insurance industry. Having started in the Life Industry, he then worked for Ernst & Young’s Insurance team (becoming Cap Gemini E&Y) His focused has been leading change and prior to joining the Board of RiskStop Group, he spent 10 years working for RSA in a variety of change roles which include leading Global Consulting (RSA’s Risk Consulting team). Nigel joined the Board of RiskStop Group in 2014 and is responsible for Business Development – RiskStop Group is an organisation dedicated to providing innovative Risk Management solutions in and around the Insurance Sector , based in Poundbury Dorchester RiskStop is the UK’s largest Independent provider of Risk Management Services to the UK Commercial Insurance Sector. The Long & Winding Road ~ Motor Market Update Faye Fishlock Partner at DAC Beachcroft Date - Tuesday 21st February 2017 Time - 17:30 for an 18:00 start. Due to finish by 19:00 Venue - The Village Hotel, Langdon Road, Swansea SA1 8QY We are delighted to welcome Faye from DAC Beachcroft in Newport to talk to us this month with an update on the Motor Market. Faye joined DAC Beachcroft in 2001 as a paralegal. She has experience of defending a wide variety of Motor, Employers Liability, Public Liability and Industrial Disease claims. She qualified in 2008 via the CiLEX route, becoming an Associate in 2011 and Partner in 2015. She currently runs the Motor Injury tam in our Newport office and specialises in handling chronic pain and fatal claims. She instigated and developed the Motor Way training programme and regularly leads seminars. Learning Objectives: At the end of this event, the delegate will be able to identify and apply the following : • Understand the current position in the motor market & potential impact of Reform Programme • Horizon spotting - what are the potential issues in the motor market for the future • How can you assist motor customers with their risk portfolio from a claims perspective?
