YPOTY Award 2023

The Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow are happy to announce that they are now seeking nominations for Young Professional of the Year for 2023 sponsored by WTW and are seeking nominations from CII members and employers from across the Glasgow region.

Have you or someone you know made a difference to our profession?

The award will be presented to a forward-thinking individual who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference within their organisation or across the profession.

The following attributes will be considered:

  • An individual who is achieving an outstanding performance within their role
  • An individual who is contributing to the wider market and to the IASG in an innovative way
  • An individual who has led a project that has changed the way their organisation operates
  • An individual who is making good progress in their professional development.

The winner will receive £1000 and an invite to the IASG annual dinner – two runners up will both receive £250 and an invite to the IASG annual dinner. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with the IASG to agree how you can use your year as Young Professional to make a difference within the industry.

What are the criteria for nomination?

Applicants can be nominated or indeed you can nominate yourself as long as the nominee has been working in the insurance industry for less than five years and is a member of the CII. Former applicants are welcome to apply.

How do I nominate?

It could not be easier simply read the awards criteria below and complete the application form that can be found here. You can self-nominate or you can nominate someone else – however please ensure that they have sight of the application made on their behalf.

How will the applications be scored?

Applicants will be scored via a points system which will be split into three distinct areas:

Supporting statement
The personal statement should include an overview on why the nominee should be awarded YP of the year thus details of any projects or initiatives they have led or taken part in that have improved working practices across their organisations and/or the profession. (40%)

Continuing professional development
This will give an overview on the CPD activity the nominee has achieved over the past 12 months and how that has ultimately developed them as a professional. (30%)

Key achievements outside of work
This section will give an overview of what the nominee does outside their working life to further their networking and professional standing. (30%)

Interview
Finalists will then be invited to a panel interview to make a presentation on a specified topic and discuss the content of their application.

Please note the interview panel will be made up of individuals from across both the IASG council and the wider market from across Glasgow.

Completed forms must be mailed to IASG committee member Louise.McQuade@wtwco.com by Monday 16th October 2023.

Don't miss the opportunity to apply or to nominate a suitable colleague.

We would encourage all employers within the wider Glasgow insurance and financial services market to promote the 'rising stars' within their organisation.

All applications will be responded to by Friday 20th October 2023.

Thanks to our sponsor WTW.
